does roaming charges apply to text messaging?

friend is leaving the country for a few days, roaming costs a fortune when calling., but does it also apply to text messaging?

Answers:

1As the previous two said, no there are no roaming fees for Text Messanging, unlike phones text messages simply rely upon any available network and send a short blip over that network.

You still are reponsible for any fees associated with text messages, generally $.10 a message for recieving/sending if you do not have a text messaging package.
